About The Director
Passion. Power. Purpose.
ShaVonne Banks-Davis is a Certified Theatre Educator and Acting Coach from Fort Worth, TX. Mrs. Davis received her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA. Mrs. Davis has taught Theatre Arts and developed after-school programs in Dallas ISD, Grand Prairie ISD, White Settlement ISD, and Fort Worth ISD. She has been recognized for her ability to build theatre programs and create a positive culture that impacts lives through the arts. In January 2021, Acting With Mrs. Davis was a recipient of the #BeyGOOD Small Business Impact $10,000 Grant from singer and philanthropist Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and the NAACP. Her gift of being able to inspire a love for theatre and grow natural talent has directed students to win theatre awards and tournaments, and gain acceptance into advanced theatre programs and schools. In 2019, Mrs. Davis was invited to present an educator workshop at the St. Philip's School & Community Center Fine Arts Symposium featuring beloved choreographer and director Debbie Allen. The workshop was entitled, "Building Positive Classroom Culture Through Theatre Arts."
The symposium aligned with Mrs. Davis' goal to create innovative ways to bring arts to the community and highlighted the positive outcomes that the arts have on at-risk youth. Mrs Davis' persistent desire to connect with youth through Theatre Arts sparked her journey as a Theatre Teaching Artist. Recognizing that students can learn more than acting skills through Theatre led her to creating workshops for after-school programs, educators, alternative schools, and businesses. Mrs. Davis frequently partners with the Maroon 9 Community Enrichment Organization to provide free and low-cost fine arts programs for the Fort Worth community and surrounding areas. In July 2020, Maroon 9 and Mrs. Davis organized the “DFW Virtual Youth Enrichment Summit” which provided 2-weeks of free workshops and discussions for middle & high school students on various topics. She is also the creator of the Facebook Group, "DFW Black Mentors & Youth Organizations" which provides a central platform to highlight, create, and seek opportunities for DFW youth. Mrs. Davis is a member of the Black Theatre Network, Texas Educational Theatre Agency, BRIDGE Fort Worth, Fort Worth Black Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, and the Crowley Chamber of Commerce.
